A batch/lot process creates a defined quantity of a product, which is composed of one or more raw materials and is manufactured in one or more devices in a defined order.

Production instructions are indicated in the (basic) recipe.

The recipe consists of a set sequence of processes (operations)

• Defined in partial recipes and executable in parts of the facilities (e.g., reactor, dosing stations, mills, etc.)
• That, in turn, consist of a set order of functions (phases)
• Defined as partial recipe steps (e.g., dosing, heating, mixing, etc.). Every step must be accompanied by a list of parameters.

The type and extent of the parameters depend on the function called up by the step (e.g., ingredient with the proportionate amount, temperature control with target value, etc.).
